Nile Basin Safari is a locally owned and operated company and we see tourism as an important contribution to the economies of the nations we work in. But how did we get here? Founder Samuel Kiberu began this incredible journey with a clear desire to create memorable tourist experiences in the Nile Basin region of Africa. Our vision was born of the desire to share the Nile Basin region with the rest of the world, while adding our signature touch of luxury.
Uganda may be a small country in comparison to its neighbors but it certainly has an incredible amount to offer. Boasting a variety of landscapes, an amazing array of wildlife and warm, welcoming locals, it’s no wonder the country receives nearly 2 million tourists a year. It’s home to Africa’s tallest mountain range (the Rwenzoris) which are also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the source of the Nile (where our name Nile Basin originated), the world’s longest river, and the continent’s largest lake, Lake Victoria. It’s home to about half of the world’s remaining mountain gorilla population.
